Dark & Moody Fairytales.

I grew up ‘away with the fairies’. At least, that’s what my Grandma used to always say. Stories about magic, fairies, flowers had me enchanted. As I grew up and discovered my love for black eyeliner and Slipknot this enchantment never really left me. Even though I may have tried to hide it.

During my first year of A-Levels my literature teacher introduced me to Angela Carter and The Bloody Chamber. Her twisted fairy tales captivated me in the same way that Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies had when I was much younger.

And so, with my love of fairy tales, as well as the macabre, this idea for a photoshoot was born. My friend, Hannah Maltinsky Gaitens, modelled for me and really me bring it to life. It features all of my favourite things: trailing ivy, twisted willow, a pink and red colour scheme.
