Hi, I'm Sarah and I bloomin' love flowers.

Hi, I'm Sarah and I bloomin' love flowers.

Sarah is a white woman wearing red lipstick and glasses. She had long brown hair and is wearing a headdress full of autumnal flowers, greenery and feathers.

Sarah is the founder of Rook Botanics. Based in Glasgow, Scotland she’s a florist, writer and podcast host. Floristry is her foremost fascination which led to the blossoming of Rook Botanics in 2021.

About Rook Botanics:

Rook Botanics is a creative and versatile floral company based in Glasgow, Scotland. Since 2021 we’ve been delivering exemplary workshops, outstanding weddings & events and heartfelt funeral work.

Workshops

We’re known for our workshops. Each year we host an array of seasonal classes and experiences throughout the year. Every wintertime we teach over 150 people to make a gorgeous festive wreath.

We've also collaborated with several organisations to deliver educational, engaging and entertaining workshops. These include: Mary's Meals, Friends of Cambuslang Park, WEST Brewery and Gathering Ground CIC.

Weddings & Events

We love a bold, daring and unique brief. Whether you’re after lots of bright colours or a rich, dark and moody palette, as long as it’s exciting then we’re game.

From intimate, candlelit Burns Suppers, to pastel and fairylike wedding florals to fun and colourful table centres for Arnold Clark’s Recognition Awards Ceremony, we’ve done it all.

Rook Botanics was featured in the January 2025 edition of Your Scottish Wedding’s magazine.

Funerals

Creating heartfelt and bespoke funeral flowers is incredibly important to us. Sarah launched Rook Botanics after making the flowers for her Grandma’s funeral. That’s why you can trust the team at Rook Botanics to take care of your funeral flowers. We understand that they are so much more than just flowers - they are a celebration of life, and a loving tribute to your special person. Every arrangement we create is made with love.

About Sarah:

I first found myself faffing with flowers when I was fourteen. A local florist agreed to take me for a week of work experience. By the time Friday came I was in love.

From then on I worked as a Saturday girl, sweeping up debris, conditioning flowers, taking orders. The florists I worked with taught me everything from hand tied bouquets to funeral work.

My heart was set on pursuing a career in journalism or writing, though. Before attending the University of Glasgow I took a gap year. Unlike many others who travel the world on their gap year I immersed myself in flowers. I attended Broomfield Hall, Derby College to complete a BTEC in floristry. Then I packed my bags, left for Glasgow and fell into a marketing career.

Flowers were always a part of me, though.

When my Grandma died in spring 2021 I created her a poignant spray of pink carnations, her favourite flower, and it made me realise that floristry was my calling.

Rook Botanics began in autumn 2021 and it’s been a riot of colour, flowers and fun since then.
