How to make a dried wreath

The contents:

Your box will include everything you need to make a beautiful dried flower wreath at home.

  • Dried flowers and foliages

  • A spool of binding wire (attached to the wreath ring)

  • A bundle of green wires

  • Twine

  • Ribbon

  • Wreath ring

You will need a sharp pair of scissors to create your wreath. Please note that some of the flowers may have thorns or their leaves may become spiky due to the drying process.

The process:

Below I have listed the step by step instructions to create your wreath. The method that I use is to create many small bundles of flowers and foliages. Once these bundles have been made I attach them to the wreath ring.

Some people prefer to skip tying the bundles with wire and attach them directly to the ring. You’re welcome to do it this way. I prefer the other method because once all the bundles have been created you can then plan out the design of your wreath more easily.

1. Make your bundles

An example of this is included in your box. Use this as a reference for shape and size. If you create bigger bundles you will need less of them, if you create smaller ones you will need more of them.

2. Plan out your design

Arrange all of your bundles on your wreath ring in the pattern you’d like. You’ll notice there’s already two bundles attached to your ring. This is demonstrate the correct way to attach them, which is covered in the next step.

Keep in mind where the ring is, as this will be the top of the wreath. Also keep in mind that there’s ribbon to attach to your wreath.

3. Attach the bundles

Two bundles have already been attached. This means that the binding wire is also already attached to your wreath ring. Take note of how the second bundle has been placed - it covers up the binding on the first bundle.

All bundles should be added in the same direction to ensure every time you add a bundle it covers the binding from the previous one.

4. Cut the wire

Once all the bundles have been added you should wrap the wire round the frame to ensure it is secure. You can then cut the wire. Tuck the end of the wire out of sight so it won’t catch on anything.

5. Attach your ribbon

The final step! You can create a bow and attach it with a wire or tie it onto the wreath ring directly.

Please let me know if you have any questions or run out of dried flowers before finishing your wreath. Send all queries to rookbotanics@gmail.com
